Suppose you want to release a new computer but youre afraid htat people wont be motivated to buy it. Heres an idea. Use the willy wonka method. Place five "golden tickets" in the boxes of 5 computers and distribute them throught the world. These Golden tickets will allow the finder to take a tour of the DELL industry and give them a a few upgrades to their computers. I mean who doesnt want to see how DELL makes its top of the line products. heres the headline "DELL goes Willy Wonka.

While I would enjoy a tour and all, I wouldn't pay hundreds of dollars for a new system in hopes of winning one.

The big difference:

Chocolate bar < $1
Dell PC > Hundreds of $$$$

I like the idea, but offer it across the board. If you buy a monitor, expect the chance to win an X, but if you buy a new system, expect the chance to win XX, etc. Scale the prizes up for the product. If you buy (product) red, offer the best prizes.

Most, if not all, Dell computers are made in Asia, if not China. How Dell makes it's products? Ask those OEM manufacturer and you probably will have a better answer.
