Smartbay option on your future notebooks

290 points posted to Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops by theideasman Mar 27

Smartbays are a fantastic idea and are already implemented on alienwares m15x. They can act as an extra hard drive or solid state drive or better still, a extra battery. They are a great multi-functioncal bay for larger peripherals and would fit perfectly in your future 15" and 17" notebooks.

I especially like the second battery idea.

Thanks, and the fact that alienware have done it means dell can too. They do own alienware.

Heck, they should implement this in their 14" notebooks too, it's doable.

Latitude D-Bays hold DVD or Battery, Or (from third party) hard drives. Go to DriveSolutions.com, you'll find replacement bays for even XPS that can hold a hard drive. I used to have one before I upgraded from the first gen XPS to my Latitude. and btw, the Latitude is MUCH nicer machien than the first gen XPS.
