approval ratings on ideas

230 points posted to IdeaStorm by jdelidc Apr 2

kinda like the real voting. you got the total number of people that vote (x10), but you should also have the percent of people that vote up and idea. so you would get someting like a 60% approval rating on something if 6 people voted for an idea and 4 people voted against an idea

Totally agree. An idea with 100 up votes and 0 down votes (approval rating 100%) is quite probably a better idea than one with 1101 up votes and 1000 down votes (50% approval).

I also think the "popular ideas" tab should sort by that approval rating as well.

What??????? 60% approval ...it would have 60 points I think you missed the point....
The idea is DELL look out for popular ideas .....not popular with 6 people and ....
not 66% approval rating of 3 people thought it was a good idea..... I have a good idea ...its round and has spokes ...I think I may call it a wheel.... what do you reckon I think it could go a long way....especially from the top of a hill...

6+4=10 6/10=.60 .60=60% all the math is right. the idea would only be showing 20 points

But still, without really opening the idea up how would you know if it's just an idea that was recently posted or one that hasn't been demoted and premoted over the span of a few or a hundred votes? I think a clearer feature would be how many people have voted on it. Something like "20 Points out of 200 votes".
