Compete on Price Against Apple

It seems that no matter how hard I try, I cannot configure a high-end Dell workstation that's less than $1500 more than an equally equipped Apple Mac. Why? Has Apple cornered the market on quad-core Xeons? Their $3000 box with dual quad-core processors is loaded with technology that you have, too, but at $1500 less, it's impossible to buy Dell for this high-end hardware.

May 29		 Looks like he's comparing the Mac Pro dual Xeon with a Precision T5400 dual Xeon. It's closer to a $1000 difference, but the Dell is clearly more expensive due to the high, high cost of the Xeon upgrades. Dell is charging about a $500 premium per processor above 2.8GHz (vs. retail cost), which hmmm, almost exactly makes up the difference in cost vs. the Mac. I was skeptical of this one since I, too, had never seen any Mac cheaper than a comparably equipped Dell. Here's the first one!
