A superthin flashlight that fits in the SD slot on XPS laptops.

The XPS M1330 has a remote control in one slot, which is a neat trick, but I would like a flash-light in the SD slot for lighting up the keyboard and also be usefull for lighting other objects.

I realize the form factor is tiny, but I imagine a strip of ultrasmall surface mounted LED's in one end of the SD-card and a superthing batterysource. The oppisite end could have a paper-clip like metal fastener for attaching the light to the top of the screen or a piece of paper (or a book). When the 'paperclip' is rotated to enable attachement, a joint in the lower part SD card would be adjustable allowing adjustments to the verticlal alignement of the light.

From bottom to front, you have the metal-wire (paperclip), then the joint (where the 'paperclip' locks the joint), then a longer portion cointaing the battery followed by the LED strip.

I realize some development would be required, but I think this would be slightly superior to the LED found on Lenovo T60 laptops, because you would also be able to read other things with (although the strength of the light, would be somewhat dimmer due to the microscopic led).

Note, the 'paperclip-like' fastener should, when extended should turn on the light :-) I realize Dell probably wouldn't design something like this themselves, but you probably talk to manufacturers who would love to make a product like this.

Here's a link to some usefull tech, indicating that this might be possible:

A thin rechargable battery with LED:

I have several lights that plug into the USB port. I think those are a better solution to low light computing and would require no development.

The express card slot would be a better choice as you could have a bigger battery and brighter LEDs

paperpilot, the idea would allway to have a light available for (1) getting light on the keyboard in darkness (2) Getting light on paper beside the laptop (3) Getting light to find a power-outlet to charge the computer. Having it 'inside' the computer like a spare tire would it prevent it from ending up the same place as all the usb memory sticks I've purchased over the years :-)

undead999, yes, and the remote could perhaps be rebuilt to feature a LED. I'm not sure how the design for attaching it to something would work tough.
