give the possibility to choose the OS

Simply let the user choose what he wants. I had to put down many Dell offers for not having the possibility to avoid the Windows tax. A pre-installed Linux distro could be OK but the most freedom is to let the user choose which OS wants on his PC (if any).

Yeah it is annoying that ever time that you purchase a new pc, you have to pay for a brand new copy of windows. I swear, just on that I have probably purchase a fancy door knob at Bill Gates house.

Do you mean that Liux should be mandatory, or that people can really have Windows the preinstalled OS if they wish?

For home and private business use, I'm in favor of choice.
For tax-supported entities, I'm entirely opposed to ANY proprietary software... ultimately, it only drains our pockets. The amount already wasted by failing to have open, shared development of FREE software is astronomical. The Internet opened the door to worldwide collaboration. Linux has opened the door to a standard, non-proprietary platform on which to base it.

Give these choices...
1. OEM Windows
2. Linux (a few flavours)
3. Retail Windows

Too many people fail to realize that including Linux will not decrease the cost. Dell will need to pay a whole new department of techs to install and support a Linux OS.
