Dell Spirit!

-50 points posted to Sales Strategies by captainsensible 02/28/07

In the old days Dell used to give out a birth certificate with every Dell system, like having a geek cabbage patch doll or something. Dell should include something like this, along with a tshirt, coffee cup, bumper sticker, keychain, and anything else that users could show off their new system with! We need spirit!

That image didn't work too well, and you can't click it to hit the original link, the url is http://i4.tinypic.com/2znofwl.jpg

opinion: disagreement... not in keeping with what most folks are doing... the younger folk would be more interested in 'skins' and not at all in 'birth certificates'

there's dell.skinit.com if they offered a free one with every new system, that'd be awesome!

When I'm paying for a computer, I want to get a computer. Not paying extra (and yes, if it adds to the cost, you do pay) for a "birth certificate", or software (including that damn Vista abomination), or coffee cups or keychains.

If they made these optional purchases I'm all for it - but any irrelevant crap they give me (that includes Vista and Birth Certificates too) will just make me mad.

If you're going to demote an idea, you could at least post a comment noting your objection. Why is there an option to demote ideas anyway? Is Dell interested in our ideas or not? And who are you to demote an idea? Are you a Dell employee or an employee of an outsourcing company? No need to answer. The questions are rhetorical. This Idea Storm thing is becoming more and more of a joke every day. But the joke's on Dell. I bet they're not laughing now; especially about their accounting practices. With already sagging sales and horrendous technical support, further into the abyss they plunge. I wonder how long it will take for this comment to disappear too.

Good point, jimmythegeek ... a little courtesy and RESPECT could go a long way here... (AND everywhere else)

Thanks, phubert28. I noticed captainsensible has voted on articles to the tune of 140 pages. Makes you wonder about the intent of someone spending that kind of time and effort on this forum and who they really represent.

oh well, then DON'T look at the time *I'VE* spent!!!! I haven't had any problems with captainsensible... he can, indeed, be VERY sensible, I think... I'm afraid whenever I'm afforded a platform like this it becomes close to an addiction... not unlike my programming days when I never seemed to evolve old systems into complete perfection in spite of constant effort... there are SO many issues and so many facets TO each issue here... but I find it stimulating and challenging ... and OTHERS _challenge_ me ... just as we should! See Proverbs 27:17 (seriously) .. tho, you might want a nice, old, King James translation to see my point.

As someone stated before, demoting doesn't hurt anyone. I just choose to promote and demote stories my coworkers and I decide are good/bad/repeats/not ideas. . That's what it's for! Now get back to work!

Ditto. Now, you and your coworkers get back to your LAN party.
