a luxury laptop?

I feel there is a need for a very high-end product line, especially for laptops.
In the recent years, the laptop prices have collapsed, and now one can get a fine machine for a mere $1,000. In Dell's business model, prices are closely related to the components that the user has chosen for their machine, so the most expensive machines (such as a supercharged XPS M1710 or an Aurora mALX, both in the $5-6000 range) are the most powerful and feature rich. And both are marketed as gaming PCs.
Yet, there are quite a few people out there who wouldn't mind spending $5 or 10,000 on a laptop, if they felt it was worth the price. A prestigious, exclusive machine, made of the finest materials, designed by visionary artists and with perfect ergonomy, and packed with services such as unlimited assistance or overnight service. That would be the kind of machine with which one could make a statement.
