Keyboard with a "Track Stick"

190 points posted to Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) by duke_nut 03/23/07

I regularly use 2 notebooks (Dell, with track stick & IBM with trackpoint) and a "purpose built" system at home with an IBM Desktop Keyboard with TrackPoint. At the moment I am spending a considerable amount of time with a customer that provides a Dell port replicator, large monitor and has a standard keyboard.

The large monitor increases my productivity but the mouse actually decreases my productivity because I have become so used to Track Stick style pointing devices. There must be lots of other people just like me whose pointing device preference is Track Stick / TrackPoint

Any chance Dell would consider producing a standard desktop keyboard with a Track Stick ! It would have sell like "hotcakes" with monitor stand/port replicator combinations !

The TrakPoint - does IBM own the patents on that little red dot?

ThinkPads were so cool, years ahead of their time...

You get my vote! Good idea...

IBM makes a keyboard with a Track Stick (they call it Track Point). It's called the Thinkplus Travel Keyboard. You can find it on Google.

IBM does make a trackstick keyboard, but it has a misplaced CTRL key and no windows/linux key. Dell should make this one!
