I'm with you there. It takes an hour or two to download and install all 70+ updates that have been released since SP2. Dell, it wouldn't kill you to update your disk image every few months.

I disagree for business use.

For companies who totally re-install their computers with a corporate disk image - it doesn't matter one way or another.

For companies who don't use their own corporate image - it's more important that each computer they buy has the same configuration so that their setup scripts can work predictably. It would really suck if IT had to manually do custom configuration of every computer that came in because they all had slightly different installs as this Idea suggests.

Might be OK for home use; but don't inflict this on corporate IT.

Dell could include a disk with some of the Microsoft updates. Then the customer could install some of the update sby using the disk. That would help people who have a dail up connection, or no internet connection. a disk installation work faster than an internet connection installation.
