Make it easier for your customers to resell unwanted software you bundle.

On a lot of our work computers you bundled a bunch of software that we don't want (antivirus software; multimedia software; and even Windows itself on many models).

Can you make it easier for us to re-sell the bundled software packages we don't want? One way you could make it easier is to include separate disks for each software package that has any resale value.

Note that there is a healthy market in used software licenses and some government customers prefer buying used software licenses since it's more affordable than new software licenses.

Corel used to sell Draw 3 when Draw 6 was the new thing. However, the Vostro line is junk free. No need to deal with it.

It's kinda hard to sell the software on ebay without the CD. How would I do it? Just upload an image of the hard drive?

There's still junk on Vostro - Notably Windows.

Just put up the license code for sale, anyone needing a CD for the software isn't worth the hassle.

Read the licenses. Most software licenses don't allow the software to be resold. I'm sure that's the case with most of this useless bloatware. A lot of this junk is bundled because they want to get you hooked on a limited feature version so you'll pay $ to upgrade to the full version anyway. I think the best answer is to not actually install the software at the factory, but put in two icons that let you choose to 1- install and try or 2-delete and recover disk space. That way you can easily get rid of the stuff you don't want, and try the stuff you might. But as for resale value, I think it has none.

Of course that's better; and yes I've voted up the No OS Ideas every time I saw them; but there's still a lot of computers my workplace buys that don't have that option yet.

@motie35: Who could prove you ever got the software if you didn't register it?

That would be great for companies who purchase 60 Dells with Vista Premium and then
they can sell those 60 disks on eBay.

Recoup the money on Windows Vista - and just copy over their old copies of Win XP Pro that they owned from the previous computers.

After all, most corporate purchases are 'hardware refreshes' - people still use the same old business applications.

Buying hardware with no OS is a better option - who wants 5 or 6 extra copies of windows, upgrade after upgrade after upgrade?
