**PLEASE if you are going to DEMOTE COMMENT OR DON'T DEMOTE**

"let people know why you are demoting the idea"

would like to see the option to get verizon evdo network cards for the linux laptop be added to the dell open line up

there are guides out there to do this now but a preconfig of this would be nice

maybe it would be possiable for dell to either make a software interface for one of the verizon cards that they would use or for them to get verizon to do it for them in exchange for only offering verizon network cards on the open lines of laptops

either way this wouldnt be a hard task for dell to take on and could not only greatly help in their linux sales but possiably help verizon and/or the linux community with getting us the support of a large wirless carrier's network cards

please feel free to add details to this idea if you have a problem with my grammer im sorry i do math not english

**PLEASE if you are going to DEMOTE let me know why**

Some of the EVDO cards can already be made to work today with various hacks found on the internet. We have looked at this and have done the hacks to make them barely work, but it's not particularly easy to do. There are a number of additional technical challenges (making them easy to use, being able to flash firmware onto the card, among others) that make them too immature to sell with Linux now. We are working on it though, but I don't have an ETA on when this might be ready. Most likely another year or two, or more.

??????, No way... John..., when technology updates happen at lightining speed in this fast world, two years is a long drag for your department. can you not speed it up plz.

Fix timings for each phase of research work:

- Roping in the exact, sharp and fast manpower

- Collection of articles and literatures

- Review of literatures by the Research comittee

- Scheduling an effective budget in materializing and how much revenue this product will rope in for the organization

- Presentation of each individuals ideas, each ones need to be in different angles and different concepts

- Implementation

- Creating the product

Strict Rule: Each one has to bring the maximum ideas, not just one idea, within the time specified

John what is now your opinion?, I have given you these tips can you not speed up your department? plzzz...;)

i would think that between dell and the backers of ubuntu togeither should be able to get the cell phone companies to make the changes for you almost

add to that
dell is partnered with RedHat & Novell

thats 4 companies that would benefit from this and the company they are talking to about doing it would benefit the most

and this is something that needs to be done to make a successful ubuntu line for business

why dell hasnt started a ubuntu business line yet i dont know seeing as they have tons of linux server clients that would be possible customers

Red hat?....thats a Linux supporting friend of Dell isnt it?...;)

Are you trying to say that Linux would benefit the most? ...;)

dell currently sells Red Hat, Suse & Ubuntu systems all of which im sure would back dell on talks with a cellphone provider to get them to help with linux support

the cellphone company is the one to stand the most benefits i think but the linux business community would have the second biggest benefit

To start wih let Dell start an integrated project and have the idea Patented on behalf of Dell....;)
Patent the ideas Dell
Patenting is itself an asset...;)
in the long run Dell will own a cellphone company on it own with its "own patented idea"......;)
How is this tekhawk?.....;)

hmmm but i like verizion lol

if dell did that they would be like t-mobile and have to contract towers from others to get started

maybe they could just offer data usage
