E-SATA and HDMI ports on XPS M1730

390 points posted to XPS products, Laptops by skolbits 08/16/07

Dell should really consider adding E-SATA and HDMI ports on the upcoming XPS M1730 and in the near future on all high end Laptops. That's going to be essential.
Users like to back up their music, movies and data on an extra hard drive, with e-sata port you can transfer everything much faster than USB 2.0.
HDMI is also another great extra feature that really revolutionizes audio and video quality and most enthusiastic users will love to play with it.
Well I hope Dell reads my post and consider these ideas which are for the best of all.

Yes, this is the way to a performance notebook.
I could use an external drive in raid mirror at home in with an eSATA drive for backup and keep it with me on the go.
Too slow on USB. Also, on the go, eSATA allows me to have faster access to all of my off drive files. It also lets me keep a seperate encrypted HD for access to secure files. Maybe even if i run a business that requires an encrypted drive, this allows fast enough access that the transfer and the encryption/decryption doesn't cause dramatic performance issues.
HDMI allows me to use giant flat panels and new HD Projectors.
Welcome to Business Notebook 2.0 guys, get on it.
I also need it for my plug in notebook media centers for the living room.
