Dell Server Should put a Beeping Led on the front

170 points posted to Dell, Servers and Storage, Small Business, Simplify IT by yaaboo 11/17/07

well. we have a lot of servers hosted together. when some server is wrong. like RAID fault. we can hear the Beeping alert.
and sometime the Status Led will not change when there is a problem.

BUT really hard to tell which one is beeping.
if there will be a Beeping Led on the front will be better

Thanks

Yes, the point is if we use standard rack. and every server sit together. and they are all running. who can tell which server is beeping.
just find i way to let us know about that. and the LED LIGHT is seems like OLD but STABLE way to show.
the LED screen will not show everything when there is a problem the the beeping seems never made mistakes.
YES, I mean Flashing LED light.

YES, Totally do-able. because sometime we need very basic way to keep us informed from the server.
what if the Open Manage NOT Running at all. what if we can not open the gate of the rack, or do not have monitor to check...
so if we can have that, that will be really great

If the front-panel fault LED isn't working, then get a support case opened on it. That's a bug, not a missing feature...

With regards to your concern about OM not running, that's why you want:
