i.e.: 1) a spanish version. Spanish is the most spoken language in the word. 2) sub forums dedicated to eac model of notebook or desktop pc, so that people with same computer can create a sort of community and help each other better. In many other forums they do that, there are official thread for each notebook, which is not as a dedicated sub forum, this last could be even better... 3) visit some other forums and learn. There are meny functions missing in Dell Forum, like multi quote among all... Etc...
@sergioo, Gracias para sus ideas. Nos ayudará hacemos una mejor comunidad. :-) Una Pregunta para usted: on #3 above, when you say that there is some missing functions in our forum, what functionality would you like to see our forum have? What would help make it a better experience?
@DA_12: over here on ideastorm we have the little notification area at the top right that says when someone's responded to one of our comments. i know the forum has bold for new comments but something like what we got here would be much much better. i've been over there a ton since storm room started (been visiting the first time user page & OS pages) and it's hard to keep up with all of it.
@jdelidc, on the forum, you can select that you want to be notified if someone responds to the thread, when you post something. The option is right below the text editor window. The entire list of all threads you selected notification for and how many new posts each has, are the bottom of the forum homepage. I think you raise a great point though. The notifications could be higher up and more visible on the page. Let us know if there is anything else you think could use some improvement on the forum. Thank You!!! :-)
yes, and not just using email. after one day over there i ended up changing my email address to my spam account because there are so many. they end up just blending into each other. with the notification system here, they don't all blend in. but i'm also new over there and still trying to learn it. it's all storm room's fault. i know i'll be comming up with more ideas soon for over there. :-)
@ aikiwolfie: it's the same way here in japan, but still. that's like saying "if you want to know how to fix your computer, you gotta learn english"
oh, and have a cookie to remember my answer about the survey, although i so switch operating systems a lot so if it's already there, sorry. we gave surveys at walmart. they did nothing. the customers became percentage points. i'd rather make suggestions here
Adding it in what way? Will there be a translation tool added? Something similar to what Google uses? I could live with that. It would actually be a very useful tool.
Thanks for the heads up on the Backlit Keyboard Idea. The IdeaStorm Admin, Jackie, will be looking into this. We don't want Dell customers to lose hope either! Thank You again.
English is the most widely spoken language in the world, meaning it's spoken in the most places, even if there are more people who speak one or other of the Chinese languages, in absolute terms.
Anyway, Dell Forums is only intended for US citizens so why not Ideastorm, then surely you must have a Spanish version as well as an English version.
By the way: THERE'S FAR TOO MUCH CHIT CHAT GOING ON HERE!!!!!
If you would rather Dell reads your back and forth comments rather than specific ideas or specific comments pertaining to ideas, then this is what we will read :) It's all up to the participants!
citroentech by discussing the nature of 'chit' and 'chat' (chitchat) I think we are really trying to improve on the forum. As my American friends like to say 'I am really excited' about this discussion, and I hope you too are excited.
I'm confused. But! Dell should read the ideas, the comments related to the ideas and pay me a salary. And then implement my ideas. Without question.
Ignore the chitchat. people will chit and chat and chitchat in threads. It can't be stopped unless you want to adopt Nazi tactics and just nuke the comments. Which would be bad. A good mod develops an ability to skim threads picking out important stuff. A good mod also develops an ability to deny all knowledge of anything they missed ;o) In a pinch, the system is being plagued by a bot. It the jorgebot.W32.exe. Linux users aren't affected. ;o)
reg was a bot. At least we knew that was true. Jorge is, well, Jorge is something else entirely, something unfathomable.....from the dark recesses of space.
