Ever seen those sticker LEDs that you can stick to your mobile phone and they lightup when you get a call? thats what i call environmentally friendly power solution. to minimise the power consumption on dell machines you could try using simillar technologies, that consume less power. maybe even put a bunch of these under the keypad for key illumination.
