I don't want Adobe Elements Studio!

280 points posted to Software by thomasp94 Jan 24

Remove Adobe Elements Studio as a forced option for the XPS 420. A $349.00 value? Well, make it optional so that I can get my $349 back. Those of us that want an XPS 420 for gaming and not image or music editing have no use for this program, and will simply uninstall it as soon as we get the computer. So why can't it be optional to save us some money???

Depending on the fine print of the license agreement, you may be able to get a refund from Dell. Here's an article of someone going to small claims court to get a refund for unwanted software a computer OEM forced him to buy.

The more people who get such refunds (or even try), the faster OEMs will stop bundling unwanted stuff.

Now the interesting part is what does the License Agreement for that particular package say? It seems Dell won't even tell you (on their web site) until after you buy the software. So - call their 1-800 sales lines and ask the rep to explain the license terms of the software to you. In addition to you learning the important details about the software Dell's trying to stick you with - that call will in iteself help let Dell understand that unsolicited software they force you to buy is unwanted.
