Plug and Play WiFi Repeater for laptops

submitted by badblood 1:57pm

I'd like a small USB plug and play repeater and clip on antenna for my laptop. Something to boost the internal antenna quite a lot for when you want to sit in the pool and use the computer, etc... But make it small, not like the whacking great things currently on the market - something to clip to the screen.

Change you logo to a symbol of some type

Advertising and Marketing, Dell submitted by badblood Jun 24

Because the Dell logo is made up by the word 'Dell' it is difficult to translate or be recognized by non-Latin-alphabet reading people. Also it is difficult to keep it the right way up on laptop computer lids.

So how about Dell take a leap and develop a logo that is a symbol, rather than a word. A symbol that can be identified by anyone, in any language, and no matter which way your computer lid is pointing?

How about it...... 11 Comments »

Make the Dell E a model 'Green Computer'

Environment submitted by badblood Jun 24

Can Dell make the 'Dell E' from recycled plastics, can it avoid many of the nasty metals and chemicals that go into making bad computers. Can Dell package the Dell E in less materials, will that material be recycled..?

Can Dell certify that the Dell E is a Green computer? 1 Comment »

"Dell E" Find a new name for your new computer...

Advertising and Marketing submitted by badblood Jun 13

Dell's upcoming netbook ultaramobile thing is apparently going to be called the 'Dell E' which sounds like Deli, where you can buy milk, bread and other nice things.

Please think of another name. Have a naming competition on Ideastorm.

I vote for the Dell Lite as in delight!

Personal computer for cats

New Product Ideas submitted by badblood Jun 9

Ever had to open the door for your cat, tired of putting food int he bowl or water.

Well how about creating a personal computer for cats with a touch screen ready made for paws.

Kitty can touch the screen to put more water in her bowl. She can enter her personal code to be let in the house without disturbing you from your television viewing. With an RFID tag you can track her too.

At least 10 inch screen

Monitors and Displays, New Product Ideas submitted by badblood Mar 2

When you eventually get round to making an ultra mobile PC, make the screen at least 10 inches, not 7.

Or else use at least a 15inch display - that can be folded of course. . 3 Comments »

Don't Disable HTML!

IdeaStorm submitted by badblood Feb 18

I just noticed that the idea to disable HTML is 'in progress' If you disable it we won't be able to post pictures anymore, which isn't very good.Lots of people use pictures to highlight their thoughts and ideas. Some ideas wouldn't be possible without pictures or they wouldn't make any sense.

So please don't disable HTML. Allow us to post pictures, add links, change text font, etc.

Do not sacrifice our creativity and freedom for security.

Don't multiply votes by 10

IdeaStorm submitted by badblood Feb 18

When you cast a vote the idea gets +/- 10 points, while the user who submitted the idea gets 1 point. This distorts the real number of votes and voters.

Please give an idea +/-1 point for 1 vote and don't multiply by 10. 13 Comments »

Perforated track pad

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by badblood Feb 18

One of the problems with track pads is that they are very smooth making what should be a tactile experience fairly difficult to judge or measure. HP have realized this and have come out with a great perforated track pad shown below. Try it as track pads go this one's really great. So if you must use track pads, make a similar one.

Alternative to the track pad

New Product Ideas submitted by badblood Feb 14

Trackpads are terrible, they lack accuracy, they get in the way, you are always accidentally touching them, they seem to have minds of their own. I for one really hate track pads. I've put up a couple of ideas to replace them with thumbsticks and mini joy sticks, while others offered ideas for little mouses that pop out of the side of the computer. But there's no joy there and they've all been voted down.

So there you have it, we need an alternative to the trackpad and the trackstick, thumbstick, trackball and all other varients won't fly.

Idea: Dell please invest millions of dollars and your best people to develop an innovative alternative to the terrible trackpad.

Thumbstick and scroll wheel for laptops

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) submitted by badblood Feb 14

Abandon the terrible touch pad on laptops. Replace it with a thumbstick, like on video game controllers. Put a scroll wheel on there while you are at it.

Unified Drive

New Product Ideas, Servers and Storage submitted by badblood Feb 13

Dell should make a great big stand-alone hard drive, that includes USB and firewire inputs/outputs, s-Video, SD slots, bluetooth, etc. It should have a small OLED display on the front, inbuilt software and controls so you can manage file transfers, backups, multi-media, etc without having to plug it into a computer.

A nice 'unified drive' if you like......

I am not sure if such a thing is already available from Dell, please let me know if it is and I will delete this idea. 13 Comments »
