If I want to close my CD/DVD-drive I have to hustle it because the nice button for closing it automatic sits under the drawer. Simply put the button above the drawer! No more annoying and unfriendly hustleing. Inserting your CDs will be a nicer experience =) 3 Comments »

Provide OpenOffice.org for free pre-installation alongside Microsoft Works and Microsoft Office. OpenOffice.org is more capable than Microsoft Works, and a serious competitor to Microsoft Office, at a fraction of the cost (it's free!)

OpenOffice.org can open, create, edit and save Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.

Provide as OPTIONS for pre-installation many other high-quality free software programs such as:
- Firefox: web browser with popup and privacy controls; say goodbye to Internet Explorer infections!
- Thunderbird: email program with free anti-spam and privacy controls
- Pidgin: instant messaging all-in-one program for popup-free MSN, Yahoo, AOL and others
&nsbp;[ed: GAIM was renamed Pidgin in April 2007 to settle the issue with AOL's trademark on AIM]
- PDFCreator: creates Adobe PDF files from any program
- Scribus, Inkscape & GIMP: desktop publishing, freehand drawing & powerful image editing

No proprietary parts

When maintaining or upgrading a Dell, it is a shear nightmare to try and replace parts. Most things are not the standard ATX parts you would expect. I suggest that Dell move away from proprietary parts, and open the door for people to use after market parts. 28 Comments »

No Extra Software Option

Want to choose OS!

I will probably buy a Notebook this year - I guess this Spring - and I would prefer NOT to get Vista on that Notebook. I think, XP Pro does the Work just rigth and I am not the slighest interested in getting Vista with that Notebook, just to make M$ and/or Dell satisfied. Comment »

Sometimes I check out the new prices of DELL-Notebooks. In the section OS Selection there is only one opportunity: Windows Vista.

YOU CAN NOT DO THIS!!!

At the moment there is nothing to choose. I choose Linux (Ubuntu)!
So please, please add Linux. I will not buy a notebook and pay extra money for something I will never need. I already found a reseller offering Ubuntu-laptops... 3 Comments »
