Laptops submitted by drew08867 06/28/07 I know they've gotten smaller with the new line of inspirons, but lenovo's are still something to be rivaled. What is the point of having a thin/light laptop and a heavy power brick you have to carry around with it? 4 Comments » Option to choose between Linux or Windows on all the pc's Operating Systems, Desktops and Laptops submitted by pacsum 07/13/07 I want to buy the 1501 (here in costa rica) but I must pay extra for a Vista license which I won't use because I use Ubuntu. It would be nice that Dell offered Ubuntu as an option on all their PC's, but I guess it's also a good bussines to sell licenses. 4 Comments » Dell donate old hardware to charity : "Computers for Africa" Advertising and Marketing, Environment submitted by badblood 07/14/07 **REVIEWED**
The mission of Computers for Africa (CFA) is promoting sustainable Information and Communications Technology (ICT) development in rural African communities. Options Available in USA Should be Available Everywhere Dell, Sales Strategies submitted by icediver 07/10/07
I live in Canada and was under the impression that Dell offered the "No OS" option on all systems. I tried to order an Inspiron 1521 with no OS and was told I couldn't. An e-mail exchange with Dell customer service revealed that the option was only available for all systems in the USA. In Canada, and I assume in other countries as well, it is only an option for selected systems. Linux, Printers and Ink, Service and Support submitted by jfelisky 02/21/07
I have a Dell 3100cn laser printer, which was a nice purchase until I dropped Windows XP and moved to OpenSuSE on my home computer. Advertise Ubuntu a little more loudly Advertising and Marketing, Linux submitted by zhinker 05/16/07 **NOT NOW**
I may be wrong about this but it doesn't seem to me like Dell's done any sort of advertising at all for the new Ubuntu pc's that it'll be rolling out soon, except for it's initial declaration I haven't heard a word about on any non-linux media (everyone using linux knows about it of course). Extend offers like Linux pre-installation to the UK & Europe Dell, Linux submitted by leftcase 05/03/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED**
First of all - well done Dell for listening to the people and making some brave decisions about the operating systems you provide your computers with. Environment, Laptop Power submitted by reg 06/10/07
Recharge Lithium-Sulfur over and over again. Sulfur is cheaper than heavy metals, and friendly to the environment. No toxic metals, and also better performing in colder temperatures. Lithium-Sulfur batteries also weigh less than Lithium Ion batteries. Monitors and Displays submitted by drew08867 06/28/07 Dell should transition all monitors to LED back lighting. More cost effective (in terms of energy use), greener, longer life. 11 Comments » Make the dell ubuntu models available through the main webpage Dell Web Site, Linux, Sales Strategies submitted by rajeevbhatta 06/19/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Instead of having the model listings on a different webpage ( www.dell.com/open) have these models available from the product search you have on the main page or a link available through the main page (www.dell.com) Ubuntu on 12.1 or 13.3 inch laptops Linux, Laptops submitted by miceagol 05/31/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED**
Preload Ubuntu on your 12.1 (XPS M1210) or 13.3 inch (XPS M1330) laptops. As it is now, there's only one choice for a laptop, and that choice is not a light laptop. The 12.1 inch and 13.3 inch laptops are much better to carry around than heavy 15 inch++ laptops. Recycle & refurbish old Dell PCs back to Dell for 10% discount Environment submitted by reg 05/18/07

Provide Linux Drivers for all your Hardware Linux submitted by gergnz 02/19/07 **IN PROGRESS**
I don't care whether the OS is pre-installed or not, I want all the hardware to be totally supported in the Linux kernel without in mucking around. I currently have a Dell M1210 and I wish the modem would work, just in case I need it. The web cam would work, just in case I need it. At least the Intel wireless card is totally supported. Thanks Intel!! Make Dell Ubuntu PCs available to businesses and non-profits Linux, Sales Strategies, Small Business submitted by wyleyr 06/20/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Dell is apparently not yet willing to sell Ubuntu-based PCs to business users, non-profits, or other organizations larger than a "home office." See this Ubuntu forum thread for more: Same discounts available on Ubuntu and Windows Linux, Operating Systems, Sales Strategies submitted by jonsmirl 06/12/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED** I'm ordering a Vista XPS 410 right now. I wanted a Ubuntu one but I'm going to throw away yet another copy of Windows. The Vista XPS 410 has $200 off today and free ship for a total of $869. The identical Ubuntu machine is $1019 plus $29.99 shipping. So today Ubuntu costs $170 more than Windows instead of $50 less. Why can't I have the same discounts on the Ubuntu machine? 50 Comments » Sell Linux PCs Worldwide - not only the United States Linux, Sales Strategies, Desktops and Laptops submitted by ergo 05/02/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED**
