Ad Campaign: What can you do with Ubuntu? Advertising and Marketing, Linux submitted by limulus 09/04/07
There are currently ideas under review, such as "make ubuntu shine" which relate to advertising Dell's Ubuntu systems. If Dell decides to do some ads, here's an idea for an ad campaign: High(er) spec Ubuntu laptops for UK/France/Germany Inspiron products, Linux, Laptops submitted by jarocooke 08/24/07
I am literally sitting here willing to buy a Dell Ubuntu the second it is available, however there are a few things that it must have: Ubuntu on 12.1 or 13.3 inch laptops Linux, Laptops submitted by miceagol 05/31/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED**
Preload Ubuntu on your 12.1 (XPS M1210) or 13.3 inch (XPS M1330) laptops. As it is now, there's only one choice for a laptop, and that choice is not a light laptop. The 12.1 inch and 13.3 inch laptops are much better to carry around than heavy 15 inch++ laptops. Same discounts available on Ubuntu and Windows Linux, Operating Systems, Sales Strategies submitted by jonsmirl 06/12/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED** I'm ordering a Vista XPS 410 right now. I wanted a Ubuntu one but I'm going to throw away yet another copy of Windows. The Vista XPS 410 has $200 off today and free ship for a total of $869. The identical Ubuntu machine is $1019 plus $29.99 shipping. So today Ubuntu costs $170 more than Windows instead of $50 less. Why can't I have the same discounts on the Ubuntu machine? 50 Comments » Make the dell ubuntu models available through the main webpage Dell Web Site, Linux, Sales Strategies submitted by rajeevbhatta 06/19/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Instead of having the model listings on a different webpage ( www.dell.com/open) have these models available from the product search you have on the main page or a link available through the main page (www.dell.com) Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops, Monitors and Displays submitted by reg 08/07/07 **COMING SOON**
Ubuntu on all models where it works Linux, Operating Systems, Small Business submitted by jonsmirl 08/01/07 **IN PROGRESS**
I'm still throwing away copies of Windows. Recently I have ordered some Dimension 9200s from Small Business. All of these machines are running Ubuntu today without problem. They're being used to replace some PE400SCs that are starting to die. A 2GB quad core for $649 was too good a deal to pass up. It makes a great small server. NICE New Dell montor! Keep making great designs like this. Monitors and Displays submitted by jmxz 05/18/07
Dell's ultra-thin LCD concept with DisplayPort going retail?Beautiful - we want more great designs like this. 41 Comments » Remove: "Dell recommends Windows Vista™..." from any publication Advertising and Marketing submitted by tho.meier 02/21/07
It would be nice to see advertising without any Micro$oft, from Dell. I think there is enough advertising for MS from MS it self. Laptops, Laptop Power submitted by badblood 05/20/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
MagSafe power connectors, by Apple, are magnetic power connectors that pull out harmlessly when the cord is tripped upon. See only Linux compatible components when building your own system Dell Web Site, Linux submitted by frozenfire 05/03/07 It would be nice when building you own system on the Dell site, you can tick a box and then it doesn't show the components that aren't Linux compatible. 3 Comments » Advertising and Marketing, Linux submitted by josmar52789 05/04/07 Show Microsoft that we can be professional too. Plus, Linux could get some more publicity this way... 6 Comments » Advertise Ubuntu a little more loudly Advertising and Marketing, Linux submitted by zhinker 05/16/07 **NOT NOW**
I may be wrong about this but it doesn't seem to me like Dell's done any sort of advertising at all for the new Ubuntu pc's that it'll be rolling out soon, except for it's initial declaration I haven't heard a word about on any non-linux media (everyone using linux knows about it of course). Do away with 512MB of memory as a base option to buy consumer desktops and notebooks. With Vista running best on 1GB at a minimum, don't make customers have a basic experience with the new OS because Dell wants to be able to advertise at a lower price point. The success of Vista -- and subsequently for Dell -- will be largely in word of mouth. Take a long-term view and build the momentum one great customer experience at a time right now! Recycle & refurbish old Dell PCs back to Dell for 10% discount Environment submitted by reg 05/18/07
Recycle your old Dell back to Dell for a 10% discount on new equipment. Dell can then secure overwrite erase the hard drive, install Ubuntu + hardware drivers, then donate the hardware to unemployment, food stamp, and welfare offices Nationwide. The social services offices then can pass out the refurbished used equipment to its clients, and Dell can be given BIG tax breaks by the State and Federal Systems. TV Commercial for New Ubuntu PCs Advertising and Marketing, Linux submitted by josmar52789 05/03/07 Dell should produce a new commercial for the Ubuntu PCs. It could tell the consumers of America why Dell has chosen to pre-install Linux on mainstream computers and hopefully promote the advantages of this new endeavor. Plus, it's likely that Dell's Linux initiative would be much more successful. 115 Comments » Software submitted by winoffice 05/01/07 **IMPLEMENTED**

Dell announced to pre-load Ubuntu on Notebooks and Desktops for US market. What about for Europe? We want for Europe market too... users from Switzerland, Germany, France, UK, Austria, Spain, and others are requesting the same. Linux option available in Europe Linux, Sales Strategies submitted by johndude 02/26/07 Its great that Dell will begin supporting Linux but we should make sure that this is worldwide and not just in America. Everything that comes out of Dell Idea Storm should be worldwide and not just in America. Thanks :) 6 Comments » track my votes
