Embeded Linux on Laptops

Create a laptop with embeded Linux on a chip as the default OS. This would create a relaible bootable system that would allow multiple OS installations on the hardrive and multi-boot environment. No matter what you'd always have that Core Linux OS.

This idea is the tip of the iceburg. What if you had multiple embedded operating systems ? Now that Mac is on Intel why not embed Mac, WIndows, Linux basic OS's each on their own chip. The HD could be shared by all three. Comment »

As a high def movie / game enthusiast, I would like to see Dell offer a Blue Ray or HD DVD drive on it's highest end desktop machine, the XPS 710 H2C.

I realize this technology is new, but a couple of competitors are already offering high definition drives (on machines not nearly as awesome as the XPS). 4 Comments »

i fix alot of computers and its amazing to me how many people leave their monitors on 24 hours a day .. its not all the end users fault as MS has XP set at Never by default .. Dell should set a default time to shut off monitors .. 10mins , 20mins whatever it may be as long as its not Never .. 5 Comments »

Make Linux/Other OS available in ALL countries

Please make all OS available in all countries.
One example: the Latitude D820 is offered in USA with FreeDos, but in Spain (for example) we have no other choice than MS Windows.

Switch Completely over to Nvidia Graphics for Dell Computers

Ati graphics are okay, but there not nearly as good as nvidia, nvidia makes the best & most reliable graphics on the market, also, the intel graphics are not as good to, I think since Nvidia is the Best, dell could be better by having all their graphics be Nvidia. 3 Comments »

Switch completely over to AMD Processors for Dell computers

You can buy a Intel processor for the same price as a amd processor, and the amd processor will be about 75% faster than the Intel processor, so dell could sell ceaper computers if they switched completely over, you can research yourself on Google and see that amd is faster, cheaper, and more reliable than intel 3 Comments »

Dell....Google, Apple, and The Internet!!

Today and The Future, it's very important to think not about the computer itself, but the computers, users, and the Internet like one system.

In one way, that is google do at the moment, seeing by the Eye's Internet (Social Networks, You Tube, Google Talk, iGooglePhone (Maybe or MayBe Not), etc). And, Dell? What they want to go? Be a simple computer manufacturer? Or, may be the next enterprise in this new era?
And, what does it means?, what it is all about? "À LA APPLE WAY", may be, may be not.... I'm not GOD, and in a matter of fact, anybody else, but i'm convinced that the new Dell, have to be one enterprise that can changes and continues to innovate in others way that anybody cannot imagine yet.

For example: Why don't build the next Java or .NET language? Why don't participate in any project that help to find the next HIV vacinate? The next VoIP++?

Did you see? Going to be the next big thing...!!!

Design & Form Factor

This forum is a great idea to get Dell back to #1.

What I like to see is new and innovative styling across the board on notebooks and desktops. Dell's product line looks 5yrs old and needs a total refresh.

As you can see Apple Inc. is winning conumers hearts because Apple owners are actually proud of displaying them in the living rooms instead of hiding them. Get rid of that XPS desktop design that thing is so ugly.. and come up with something consumers would be proud of displying in their media rooms.

Also I would like to see Dell create a sleak new design for a media center box so we can utilize vista home for the entertainment room and display it next to my audio and video units.

Service Issues

Respond to customer e-mails and in person encounters with a solution; at the very least with a response. I had a problem with an order "placed" for next day delivery at a Dell kiosk at the Westfield Valley Fair Mall; the order was never submitted. Three days later I drove back to the mall from Palo Alto to adress the problem, with confirming documentation; the on duty employee was non responsive to my issue and only, after several demands, gave me the e-mail address of his regional manager; a David Sin. I e-mailed him and never received a response. I will never, ever, do business with Dell again. I have been a retail manager for years and problems don't go away if they are not addressed. Pull your head out of your ... and deal with problem. Don't avoid it. I am not impressed and I won't go away. Comment »

Dell, Linux for The Java Community - Pre-installed

1) Application's server to install
2) IDE's (Eclipse, Netbeans) to install
3) Another packages: May be, Mono-project, for example!
4) Just-in-time and On-Demand
5) Help Support
6) Automatically updates

Hi,

Dell, try to be a new channel that give the possibilities/means, to sell or buy hardware's stuff like Amazon, but with services too. For example: Ones customers, "sell" their experiences to another customers, and may be to Dell properly. Why not?

I think that companies from this era, They must become like central nervous system.

Make the next computer much more cheaper (±80%) by giving the user an option to automatically sell to dell the computer power whenever the computer is idle.

Make computer much more cheaper by buying computer power from the costumers.

Sell a system with an option/software installed that permits dell use it's computer power and re-sell this power to large costumers that have vast need for parallel computing.

This software would be like a "screensaver", but it would perform some math calculations in the back ground, that it would receive by internet.

With the amount of computer power sold by the user to dell, you give to this costumer a credit for the purchase of another system.
