Dell Must Use Ubuntu Stickers! {Pics Inside} Linux submitted by thebittersea 06/10/07 **UNDER REVIEW** TV Commercial for New Ubuntu PCs Advertising and Marketing, Linux submitted by josmar52789 05/03/07 Dell should produce a new commercial for the Ubuntu PCs. It could tell the consumers of America why Dell has chosen to pre-install Linux on mainstream computers and hopefully promote the advantages of this new endeavor. Plus, it's likely that Dell's Linux initiative would be much more successful. 117 Comments » Software submitted by winoffice 05/01/07 **IMPLEMENTED**

We want for Europe market too... users from Switzerland, Germany, France, UK, Austria, Spain, and others are requesting the same. Same discounts available on Ubuntu and Windows Linux, Operating Systems, Sales Strategies submitted by jonsmirl 06/12/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED** I'm ordering a Vista XPS 410 right now. I wanted a Ubuntu one but I'm going to throw away yet another copy of Windows. The Vista XPS 410 has $200 off today and free ship for a total of $869. The identical Ubuntu machine is $1019 plus $29.99 shipping. So today Ubuntu costs $170 more than Windows instead of $50 less. Why can't I have the same discounts on the Ubuntu machine? 50 Comments » Downloadable, PDF format, full technical specs for all systems Advertising and Marketing, Dell Web Site submitted by benjesuit 06/12/07 **REVIEWED**
Before I buy, I would like to have the options of downloading the full technical specifications of the system. Not just the brief specifications. Place a link under "tech specs" tab that allows you to view or download the full specification PDF file for those of us who care about and understand such things. This way everyone is satisfied. Dell has now decided to sell computers with Linux pre-installed. GREAT MOVE! But for the moment, it only concerns the US... Here outside the US, we can't wait to buy a pre-installed Linux Dell PC! Please sell Linux PCs worldwide! Don't describe Windows as an "Upgrade" Linux, Operating Systems, Sales Strategies submitted by stevefraser 02/19/07 If Linux is offered as the Operating System (As has been suggested many times on this site), don't describe an offer to purchase Windows as an "Upgrade", for example "Upgrade to Microsoft Windows for only $$$", Some other phrase should be used instead, such as "Add in Microsoft Windows for $$$", as the word Upgrade may give the impression that Windows is superior to Linux, and there are several people who would disagree with that statement. 8 Comments » Software submitted by fgarpe 02/26/07

Sometimes I check out the new prices of DELL-Notebooks. In the section OS Selection there is only one opportunity: Windows Vista. Have Michael Dell try actually buying a PC using Dell.com Dell Web Site submitted by onethumb 02/16/07 I think he'd quickly see that the customer experience could use a lot of work. 23 Comments » Dell Web Site, Operating Systems submitted by yop 02/19/07
I would like to see more choices of OS like... No OS, Linux, Windows. Operating Systems submitted by pwalker 01/30/07
There was an interesting op-ed by Doug Mohney in The Inquirer yesterday, which suggested that the launch of Vista provides a good opportunity for Apple - if it licences OS X to Dell. Internet Laptop Design Contest Advertising and Marketing, Laptops submitted by mucho 02/16/07 In order to get direct input from Dell customers, and tie more closely with consumer trends, why not sponsor a contest over the internet to design a line of laptops for home/consumer use? This would tie into Dell's philosophy of direct relationships. So the new laptop would not only be built specifically for you, but also DESIGNED directly by Dell customers. Of course, designs would have to be reviewed by Dell engineers to be sure that they are technically feasible and can be built within cost constraints, etc... Seems like this could be a very cool way to design a new generation of home/consumer laptops thru collaboration directly with Dell customers. 9 Comments » Advertising and Marketing, Environment, Sales Strategies submitted by john_saddington 02/19/07
I'd love to see a "Trade In" Program and/or initiative, where a customer who's been a long time customer could trade in an old system for a new one, or at least, a good sized discount. A Line of Linux Only Computers for Old People Linux, Desktops and Laptops submitted by aoeui 02/17/07 The main advantage of Windows over Linux is it's running of certain third party applications such as games, none of which as a general principle old people actually have a use for. The advantage of Linux over Windows is it's stability, security, and cheapness, all of which old people love in a computer. Thus, selling said old people a line of computers with the Linux OS only makes sense. 15 Comments » Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops and Laptops submitted by neogamerdrew 02/19/07 When maintaining or upgrading a Dell, it is a shear nightmare to try and replace parts. Most things are not the standard ATX parts you would expect. I suggest that Dell move away from proprietary parts, and open the door for people to use after market parts. 28 Comments » track my votes
