Change your Marketing Technique

Advertising and Marketing submitted by badblood 06/29/07

Recently Dell employed a number of minimally clothed young women to advertise their new colorful line of laptops. The girls were painted on their arms and legs with Dell logos and posed in erotic positions with the new computers.

Perhaps the boys who run Dell imagine that beautiful young girls might attract attention to their products, but do they attract the right attention. Such images perpetuate stereotypes, alienate many people who might otherwise buy Dell products and perhaps worst of all they say nothing about the actual products, they draw attention away from the products. On posting one of the pictures of the new girls to this site the entire comments section was focussed on the girls rather than the computers. (The image was subsequently deleted by Dell).

Dell keep your advertising focussed on your products. 28 Comments »

Dell the Supporter

Dell submitted by daniel117 06/29/07

Since Dell is supporting the environment by letting us pay for a tree to be planted or recycle our old Dell systems, then Michael should do more than this. Some money should go to UNICEF or another organization. This money can go to homeless people or FEMA. Dell has to put in some charity at least. Comment »

Sell ink cartridges at local retail

Printers and Ink, Sales Strategies submitted by guardianxps 02/21/07 **IMPLEMENTED**

So, for convenience and ease of access, can Dell sell ink cartridges through local retail stores? I realize Dell is an online store; and not suggesting you stop the online part, but also make it available through retail stores. Considering weather or other natural occurrences, and the latest discomfort from DHL leaving the ink cartridges on the door just to be stolen gets annoying.

We now sell ink cartridges at Staples. Click here for more details

Exploring Other Countries

Dell, Sales Strategies submitted by daniel117 06/29/07

Dell should be making homes in other countries, like Japan, Mexico, France, Africa, Russia, Germany, and Italy. This would get Dell more profit and get more people to use the company's products for general computing. Hey, who knows, Dell might expand to every country in the world! 5 Comments »

Dell add Skype to Tech Supports Abilities

Dell Web Site, Service and Support submitted by jorge 06/29/07

Dell give Tech Support Skype abilities so they can be reached for free (literally) which reduces cost for Dell and it gives video support so customers can show tech's any visual issue if needed. Same for Support they can visually show customers what to do through Skype video! Even if the Tech support person has bad English they can visually communicate and resolve issues.

You already have the chat feature but no video, this will aid support in so many ways!

Do it now!

PS: even if you don't use Skype I'm just talking about Skype type features, like over the net voice (VOIP) and video, I don't care if its Dell-ype or something else, Skype is just the in word at the moment. So don't go getting antsy about the name, ok.

New Product Ideas submitted by daniel117 06/29/07

Well, it is actually a coffee table that's a computer. Dell can sell this piece of modern art from Microsoft, who developed this odd form of a computer. But this baby can be the most multimedia capable thing out there, and Dell can make the bucks, while you can have the contraption.

More details of this fantastic coffee table on this website

Make Packaged "Bundles" Completely customIzable

Dell submitted by ptcase 06/29/07

Please make Packaged Bundles customer friendly by allowing the customer to choose a premium warranty without having to settle with a security suite that we may not want or have a need for. Many of the security suites have 3 -user licenses on them. Some people might want to use one of their already purchased user licenses on the new laptop or desktop without having to buy another. Option for gigabit ethernet for new Inspirons.

Inspiron products submitted by benjesuit 06/29/07

Currently, only 10/100 is offered.

Would be awfully nice to have the option to have gigabit ethernet on the Inspiron 1520/21, 1720/21.

That being 10/100/1000. 7 Comments »

Dell branded ExpressCard 54 Port Replicator/docking station.

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Inspiron products, Laptops submitted by benjesuit 06/29/07

Since the expansion port was dropped in your Inspiron notebook line. So why not manufacture an expresscard 54mm that functions as a port replicator/doscking station?

It would have to have a cable coming from the expresscard to the port replicator. Approximately 3 to 6ft long.

Using the expresscard slot for a port replicator yields more bandwidth than using the USB 2.0 port.

The port replicator device itself should have:

4 to 6 USB 2.0 ports.
S/PDIF port
10/100/1000 Ethernet port
HDMI/ DVI-D port
VGA port.
Headphone jack
Mic input jack
Stereo Line in RCA port

Also for those without S/PDIF on the home entertainment center, separate L/R center, surround and subwoofer RCA jacks.

Might want to consider a version for legacy equipment like PS2, Serial and parallel port.

It should be powered by an AC adapter so that the USB ports have power to charge devices that are connected to it when notebook power is off or if the notebook is disconnected. 1 Comment »
