Dell XPS m1530 - How about XP as an option XPS products submitted by diytuner 11/27/07 Well, it would definitely be nice if I could buy a gaming laptop with XP instead of Vista 8 Comments » Tell us what WiFi chipset a laptop has. Broadband and Mobility, Dell Web Site, Linux, Laptops submitted by tonyb2006 08/29/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Tell us the WiFi chipset used in a laptop before we buy it so we know if the WiFi chipset supports a feature we want, or if it supports Linux or another operating system that we intend to use. The WiFi chipset being like "Intel ipw2200" or "Broadcom BCM4306", or "Ralink rt2500". Stop Overcharging on Notebook RAM Sales Strategies, Laptops submitted by realskript 08/28/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Dell really... REALLY need to stop overcharging... and when i say overcharing... i mean atleast double what you would pay to pick up the ram yourself. Standardize Power Cables for Laptops Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by badblood 08/27/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Nothing is more annoying than laptop power cables that are not interchangeable from one computer model to another or from one brand of computer to another. Power cables have been standardized on most electrical applicances, including desktop computers for decades. Start offering DELL products to the general public in Poland Dell, Linux submitted by lukasz.wisniewski 11/12/07
According to today's local newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza [1], by 20th November, 11:30 to be more exact, Dell will just have manufactured their first notebook in Lodz, Poland. Unfortunately, even though I am inhabitant of this city, it is more than unlikely I will buy DELL notebook anytime soon. Linux, Operating Systems, Sales Strategies submitted by xivulon 09/26/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
There are several proposals that basically ask the same thing: SHOW UBUNTU IN THE LIST OF OPERATING SYSTEM ON ALL MACHINES [subtract $50]. And why not, add XP to the list as well. There are also many more proposals that would be made redundant IF the above was implemented. If you add them all together that is probably the most requested feature at the moment. Yes I think many of the ideas below can be merged. Make Linux and no Operating system standard options on all future products Operating Systems submitted by jervis961 08/17/07 **REVIEWED**
OK Dell you have committed to supplying Linux options in limited form. Since you have laid the groundwork already here is the next step. Every new product you release that needs an Operating system should have Linux and also no Operating System as an option in the configuration along side Windows. Since you have to write drivers and test compatability for Vista when making a new product just make it compatable with Linux at the same time. There will no longer be a need for a seperate sections for Linux or no Operating system since all of the products will have the option. this will help make your site easier to navigate for you customers. You can also create an ACCURATE help me choose section for the OS choices. Easier way to OPT OUT of Dell selling my private information Advertising and Marketing submitted by ninefoot3 10/17/07 **IN PROGRESS**
I rec'd a brochure yesterday saying Dell and DFS were going to share my private info with other 3rd party companies for marketing purposes. Well, it said that in about 5,000 words or so. At the end is a box stating that I may opt-out of this by calling the number listed or writing a letter (including certain info) and send it to the listed address. There should be an option of having no trialware on all computers Software submitted by jervis961 08/23/07 **REVIEWED**
Here is a news article about trialware and how Dell feels that regular customers want it but small business ones do. Do they not look at the ideas here? Operating Systems submitted by mystfan 07/28/07 Why is Vista Home Premium the only option on a lot of computers? Any Vista system is bad enough without making people get the even more graphics heavy (and more expensive!) one. 2 Comments » Stop advertising on the O'Reilly Factor. Advertising and Marketing submitted by rengeln 08/03/07 We believe that Dell should immidiately cease all advertising on The O'Reilly Factor, a program which is responsible for an unending stream of vitriol and intolerance. Bill O'Reilly is a liar, a bigot, a pervert, and a creep, and by advertising on his program, Dell Computer is giving the lunatic a soapbox from which to scream his message of hate and fear. We do not believe that Dell Computer endorses his views, but nonetheless, your money helps keep him on the air. As Dell customers, we are repulsed at the idea of our funds eventually being channeled into O'Reilly's pockets. We request that you follow the recent example of Lowe's and Home Depot and cut all ties with The O'Reilly Factor and Fox News. 4 Comments » Make dell compatible drivers for power consumption Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Environment, Laptop Power submitted by johnpro 06/15/07 IBM laptops have this and it is very helpful to monitor your power usage, remaining power left, charge/discharge rates, and battery capacity. This would also educate the masses of people who regularly destroy their laptop batteries. 5 Comments » Properly warn consumers about ~3GB Max useable RAM limit with Vista 32bit Advertising and Marketing, Operating Systems submitted by benjesuit 06/18/07
Only Vista 64 bit can use 4GB of ram or higher. Vista 32bit (such as the recommended Home premium), like XP (32bit) will only report a max of ~3.1GB. All operating systems on all platforms! Operating Systems submitted by markvs624 07/09/07
Do just what the title says: offer all operating systems on all platforms with full support. Don't restrict Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Unbuntu to certain models. Incorporate Freefall Detection Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by bgamari 06/13/07 Hard drives are by far the most fragile yet frequently the most valuable component of a modern notebook. As such, special care should be taken to mitigate failure where possible. Dell should consider incorporating active freefall protection into its laptop line, especially in business models. An alternative would be to use hard drives with integrated free-fall protection, such as Seagate's 7200.2. 3 Comments » Operating Systems submitted by ptcase 06/13/07
