No McAfee. i cant unistall my copy because it will take all my settings for the Microsoft firewall with it. That includes my outlook settings, internet, and just about every program. Why cant i say "no McAfee please"??? is it really that hard? use Norton.... 72 Comments » coreboot (formerly LinuxBIOS) instead of proprietary BIOS Linux, Desktops and Laptops submitted by yesmathew 02/20/07
coreboot (formerly known as LinuxBIOS) is a Free Software project aimed at replacing the proprietary BIOS (firmware) you can find in most of today's computers. Desktops and Laptops submitted by mwmtjm 01/30/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Do away with 512MB of memory as a base option to buy consumer desktops and notebooks. With Vista running best on 1GB at a minimum, don't make customers have a basic experience with the new OS because Dell wants to be able to advertise at a lower price point. The success of Vista -- and subsequently for Dell -- will be largely in word of mouth. Take a long-term view and build the momentum one great customer experience at a time right now! Have Firefox pre-installed as default browser Software submitted by robinjfisher 02/19/07 **REVIEWED**
Does what it says on the tin! Most people only use IE because they aren't aware of other browsers - they think Internet Explorer is the Internet! What would really drive take up of alternative browsers is if Firefox was pre-installed as the default browser so that when people look for the "Internet" in Windows, they are using FF. Would love the ability to have a clean Vista install. No AOL software, no earthlink software, no google software - just a clean, original OS. Enable Advanced Configuration Options in BIOS Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) submitted by ski4404 05/01/07 It's great that Dell is using the latest chipsets from Intel, but really what use is it if we cannot take advantage of the new features offered? Many if not all of the advanced BIOS configuration features that are present in Intel boards not supplied by Dell are missing in the Dell bios. Simple items like SATA mode switching are strangely absent (at least in the desktops -- don't know about servers). I might understand if Dell doesn't want people to overclock for support reasons, but there are many other options that should be available in the bios. 3 Comments » Why is Windows XP not available on the Dimension 9200 Series? Dimension products, Operating Systems, Sales Strategies submitted by sparksflyhi 05/01/07 I applaud Dell's decision to offer Windows XP on many computers for those of us who choose not to go with Vista. Why isn't the Dimension 9200 included in the models available for purchase with XP? Comment » track my votes
