I find myself many, many times in dark or poorly lit environments having to guess the various keys - would be fantastic to have a backlit keyboard - with backlit individual keys as the best option. Do away with 512MB of memory as a base option to buy consumer desktops and notebooks. With Vista running best on 1GB at a minimum, don't make customers have a basic experience with the new OS because Dell wants to be able to advertise at a lower price point. The success of Vista -- and subsequently for Dell -- will be largely in word of mouth. Take a long-term view and build the momentum one great customer experience at a time right now! Recycle your old Dell back to Dell for a 10% discount on new equipment. Dell can then secure overwrite erase the hard drive, install Ubuntu + hardware drivers, then donate the hardware to unemployment, food stamp, and welfare offices Nationwide. The social services offices then can pass out the refurbished used equipment to its clients, and Dell can be given BIG tax breaks by the State and Federal Systems. The reason that tablet PCs didn't take off was the price. I would love to see a handleld PC/Mobile device that had a screen that was big enough to use! Why do all Windows Mobile (or PalmOS, etc.) devices have to be 3x5? You can't do anything comfortably on that. I would like to see a Windows Mobile device that has a 5x8 or even an 8.5x11 display. When we say we want to buy a 512Mb graphics card we really do want a 512Mb graphics card - not 512Mb with 256mb physical memory with 256mb shared! This is really BAD and misleading advertising - you do not see other RAM memory being sold 1Gb (512Mb physical, 512Mb shared!) Software submitted by kevintrooper 04/23/07
Paint.net is a free Program that is very professional but can be used by anyone who knows how to use PAINT or any other graphic program! And I say it should be preinstalled so people dont get used to the ordinary paint which sucks at saving files (in quality) !!!!! This program can also convert, have layers,.... Have fun! I wish to add another voice to the support for continuing the Dell Axim X51v (as a PDA or Smartphone). Because of the productivity and usefulness of the Axim, I passed on the Axim X50v I owned to my son after I purchased the X51v. X51 is the best - let it stay the best ! - make the upgrade ! AVG Free Edition (Virus and Spyware Utilities) Installation Option Software submitted by solidsource 02/19/07 Allow for AVG (or other virus software/spy ware manufacture alternative) instead of, or alongside, the other options (Norton,etc...). AVG is a comprehensive suite of virus and spy ware protection applications that remains very un-intrusive compared to the other options Dell provides. Ok, well I know I may be chastised for bringing this up, but vista is still a young operating system with its own problems etc... I would like to see both Home and Business computers, especially notebooks have an XP Home and Pro option on top of Vista until it has at least been out for a year. For those seasoned users like me who just feel that you need to let a new OS mature before jumping right in.
