Include cleaning and screen protection cloth with laptops Monitors and Displays, Laptops submitted by jkeating 11/02/07 A nice dell branded cleaning cloth should be included with new laptops. This cloth would be used to clean the laptop sceens as well as lay on top of the keyboard when the laptop is closed to protect the screen from keyboard imprints. If a cloth is included it is far more likely that this cloth would be used to clean rather than some other cleaning device which may damage a user's screen. 10 Comments » Sales Strategies, Software submitted by rgb66rgb 09/20/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Some purchasers already have subscriptions to anti-virus products that can be ported to new systems. Not having a 'no anti-virus' option on every system order page forces those users to essentially buy two licenses when only one machine will be used. dell should implement a Core 2 extreme processor as an option for the XPS 1330 and 1530 and a first quad core notebook , because the high end models have this , why not on the 1330 and 1530 XPS is high end right? and also why stick to 8600gt that there is a 8700gt or above graphics card , well the XPS 1530 and 1330 overall design is great slim light, well as an addition dell should also implement a PENRYN processor Make Gigabit Ethernet Standard on Notebooks Broadband and Mobility, Laptops submitted by techsage 02/24/07
This should be a given at the least for Small Business and above notebooks. Another option would be to at least allow an option for this with an additional charge. This feature is very important for those wishing to do quicker backups via the network (since this is faster than even via USB 2.0). Apple and Sony, if not others as well have this as standard at this point. External graphics using PCI-E Cable Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Gaming, Laptops submitted by error 02/17/07
Make a laptop with integrated graphic card (for long battery life) and use pci-e cabling specification to connect external graphic card by cable (for ultimate gaming power) Linux, Operating Systems, Sales Strategies submitted by xivulon 09/26/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
There are several proposals that basically ask the same thing: SHOW UBUNTU IN THE LIST OF OPERATING SYSTEM ON ALL MACHINES [subtract $50]. And why not, add XP to the list as well. There are also many more proposals that would be made redundant IF the above was implemented. If you add them all together that is probably the most requested feature at the moment. Yes I think many of the ideas below can be merged. Service and Support, Software submitted by lifeguard May 29 The support section for downlaods and patches makes it difficult to keep up with the latest software. IBM has a utility that keeps the laptop up to date, this works from an ease of use perspective. A simpler way would be to just let us sort patches for the laptop selected by the date that the patch was released. I can then just write down the date to make sure I have loaded the latest software. Comment » New Dell-Mini Keyboard Arrangement Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) submitted by aikiwolfie Jun 8
There has bee a lot of decission around IdeaStorm about the new Dell Mini. Some of that discussion has turned to the keyboard. This is my solution for making the best use of the available space on the Dell Mini for the keyboard and touch pad. Use only the best and brightest LCDs for all laptops! No sub-par manufacturers need apply! Laptops submitted by astudios 02/17/07
From what I understand, today's Dell LCDs on laptops are made by Toshiba, LG, Samsung, etc.. why make it an anticipating "waiting game" for the customer to see which quality of LCD they get when their laptop comes in? The LCD display is THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT part of any laptop. Dell.. please, use ONLY the best and brightest LCDs on all of your laptops. More Choice of Graphic cards on (Home & Home Office) Laptops and Desktops. Desktops, Gaming, Inspiron products submitted by fahdriyami Feb 3 Sometimes when looking for a reasonablly priced notebook or desktop i would go for the Inspiron range, and im a gamer, when customizing my pc i just wonder why is there only one or two choices of graphic cards?!, most of them support the same bus type, so why not offer them?! eg, the best Inspiron notebook you offer only comes with a GeForce 8600M GT, can you just offer an 8700M with it at least? i know you did it for a reason and its probably a good one but im just curious...thinking of it, an Inspiron with an 8800M sounds ok :D 12 Comments » Offer new cheaper SSD's in XPS notebooks Sales Strategies, XPS products submitted by redrubberpenguin May 7
Solid state drives have been ridiculously expensive for the last few years. The price is over $15 per GB of storage, as opposed to hard disk drives, which come for even less than $1 per GB of storage at times. But there's no arguing the benefits of SSD's... better performance, quicker boot times, and much better data protection all in exchange for a premium price. Dell Web Site submitted by sanjeev 02/17/07 I think it would be nice, if dell could provide the updated driver automatically. Like i have inpiron/e1505 and i went from Windows Media Center to Windows Vista Business. For couple of weeks i wasn't able to use my wireless because for some reasons my driver was not supported, but later i found the driver. So, it would be nice if dell could provide automatic driver download so that user don't have to spend much time where to go and download the drivers. 2 Comments » Laptops submitted by pablohs Jun 2 I can buy a mobile phone with integrated GPS but not a laptop? I would like to be able to buy a laptop with the GPS already integrated within the unit. Promote this Idea to let Dell know that we need to keep the XPS desktop and laptop product line. 31 Comments » GeForce 9M series of laptop GPUs on Dell XPS laptop XPS products, Laptop Power submitted by helmecj01 Jun 3
Give XPS Notebooks Gigabit Ethernet XPS products submitted by croftki Feb 17 I understand that Dell market research says home users in general are not interested in gigabit ethernet for home networks. Those who pay for the premium design in the XPS line, however, are more likely to want gigabit ethernet. I would rather buy something more exciting than a business class notebook, but I want to build on my home technology with each purchase I make. XPS Notebooks unfortunately do not help me do this. It seems my only option is to buy a Latitude. 28 Comments » Monitors and Displays, Laptop Power submitted by yardsale Jan 16 I dont know why dell hasnt done this yet. switch all monitors on desktops and notebooks to LED. did you know that you can run an LED screen at full brightniess and it uses less power than a LCD monitor at the lowest brighting level?!? its cheaper, its energy efficent, and it needs to be done! promote this, if you demote i wanna know why! 63 Comments » There should be an option of having no trialware on all computers Software submitted by jervis961 08/23/07 **REVIEWED**
