Gaming, XPS products submitted by dell_admin1 04/25/07 **IMPLEMENTED**
Participate in the product design process! Dell is using IdeaStorm to decide between two new product design concepts. Vote on your favorite and weigh in to tell us what you think. When we unveiled the XPS 710 H2C at CES this year, we also uncovered it. There were a limited number of systems sprinkled throughout the show floor that had a clear side panel allowing easy viewing of the patent-pending two-stage H2C liquid cooling system. Since then, more than a few people have suggested we offer a “panel with a view” as an option for our XPS 710 line. Now we need you to vote for one of these two options and, most importantly, share some reasons why you like it. This “Now You Decide” vote campaign will be open from Wednesday, April 25 to Friday, May 11. The design that gets the most votes will be featured in a future generation of XPS gaming desktops. Check out the latest Idea in Action on the new XPS 730. 108 Comments » Laptops submitted by kdickensheets 05/21/07 Why not have cooling for laptops draw air from the sides and exhaust through the back rather than the bottom. Travelers often put their laptop on their hotel beds or sit them on their laps on airplanes usually blocking the fan opening make the unit overheat. My wife often leaves hers running on the bed and it heats up because of lack of proper air circulaton. 13 Comments » Work with gaming companies to promote Linux gaming Gaming, Linux submitted by homerhomer 05/07/07
Dell is an huge step for Linux and they have a huge voice for the computer community . I would love to see Dell talking to gaming companies on bringing there products to Linux. Operating Systems submitted by icantseeyou 02/21/07 **IMPLEMENTED**
From all of the press I have read it is plain that Vista is a big bomb. To buy the cheapest version I hear it isn't even as good as XP SP2. At the same time you need at least 4 Gig to run it. Offer other options... I don't care if it's Linux, XP, or a rat running on a wheel. Don't make us buy Vista. Software submitted by fgarpe 02/26/07

Dell announced to pre-load Ubuntu on Notebooks and Desktops for US market. What about for Europe? We want for Europe market too... users from Switzerland, Germany, France, UK, Austria, Spain, and others are requesting the same. Operating Systems submitted by javaprog07 02/17/07 **IMPLEMENTED**
Ok, well I know I may be chastised for bringing this up, but vista is still a young operating system with its own problems etc... I would like to see both Home and Business computers, especially notebooks have an XP Home and Pro option on top of Vista until it has at least been out for a year. For those seasoned users like me who just feel that you need to let a new OS mature before jumping right in. I am planning on buying a new notebook, and I would like to insure I wont have to format it on arrival just to have XP. Silent / Quiet Computers: Sound levels in decibels Desktops and Laptops submitted by pchris 02/17/07 **REVIEWED**
I'd like Dell to provide the sound level in decibels for each of their desktops, under max load as well as at idle. Desktops and Laptops submitted by mwmtjm 01/30/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Do away with 512MB of memory as a base option to buy consumer desktops and notebooks. With Vista running best on 1GB at a minimum, don't make customers have a basic experience with the new OS because Dell wants to be able to advertise at a lower price point. The success of Vista -- and subsequently for Dell -- will be largely in word of mouth. Take a long-term view and build the momentum one great customer experience at a time right now! TV Commercial for New Ubuntu PCs Advertising and Marketing, Linux submitted by josmar52789 05/03/07 Dell should produce a new commercial for the Ubuntu PCs. It could tell the consumers of America why Dell has chosen to pre-install Linux on mainstream computers and hopefully promote the advantages of this new endeavor. Plus, it's likely that Dell's Linux initiative would be much more successful. 117 Comments » Software submitted by winoffice 05/01/07 **IMPLEMENTED**
Always include ALL software AND driver reinstallation discs for FREE (or at let us get the option do get the for free if we want as follows)...don't make us pay extra in case that we have a disaster and need to reinstall from scratch...! Provide Linux Drivers for all your Hardware Linux submitted by gergnz 02/19/07 **IN PROGRESS**
I don't care whether the OS is pre-installed or not, I want all the hardware to be totally supported in the Linux kernel without in mucking around. I currently have a Dell M1210 and I wish the modem would work, just in case I need it. The web cam would work, just in case I need it. At least the Intel wireless card is totally supported. Thanks Intel!! Education, Sales Strategies submitted by cnmopt 02/18/07 **ALREADY OFFERED** Similar to Apple, Dell should offer students a special discount on Dell Products. The Apple market share is currently growing in the education sector and offering [college] students a discount would be useful to counter Apple's strategy. 42 Comments » Sell Linux PCs Worldwide - not only the United States Linux, Sales Strategies, Desktops and Laptops submitted by ergo 05/02/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED**
Dell has now decided to sell computers with Linux pre-installed. GREAT MOVE! But for the moment, it only concerns the US... Here outside the US, we can't wait to buy a pre-installed Linux Dell PC! Please sell Linux PCs worldwide! Software submitted by ootleman 02/16/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED**
Would love the ability to have a clean Vista install. No AOL software, no earthlink software, no google software - just a clean, original OS. Have Firefox pre-installed as default browser Software submitted by robinjfisher 02/19/07 **REVIEWED**
Does what it says on the tin! Most people only use IE because they aren't aware of other browsers - they think Internet Explorer is the Internet! What would really drive take up of alternative browsers is if Firefox was pre-installed as the default browser so that when people look for the "Internet" in Windows, they are using FF. Show performance charts to compare options during shopping Dell Web Site, Sales Strategies submitted by dankster 05/11/07
I think the shopping experience doesn't provide enough data or info to let the consumer know if its worth the upgrade. If you could show performance data for options A, B, C using typical benchmarking software and another table with the cost to performance ratio for that % gain or loss. I think that would help consumers make a better choice to decide if they get enough bang for the buck for each decision they make while configuring their computer. Advertise Graphics RAM correctly Advertising and Marketing submitted by joffe100 04/20/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
When we say we want to buy a 512Mb graphics card we really do want a 512Mb graphics card - not 512Mb with 256mb physical memory with 256mb shared! This is really BAD and misleading advertising - you do not see other RAM memory being sold 1Gb (512Mb physical, 512Mb shared!) track my votes
