At least let us edit and change votes on Ideas about obsolete & discontinued products. IdeaStorm submitted by jmxz Aug 19
Many, perhaps most Ideas on IdeaStorm are well over a year old, and many of these refer to obsolete products that may not be relevant anymore. Improve Dell's Linux repository; Support Ubuntu better. Linux, Software submitted by gjc Aug 19 **UNDER REVIEW**
Did you know that Dell has software repositories for Linux? It does. But they are only maintained by the community and only contain RPMs. Seperate Linux promos to its own section Linux submitted by bobwalt Aug 19 Despite a vocal group that supports it Linux will not be a viable OS option for the vast majority of endusers. It would be wonderful if while going through these ideas I didn't have to run across a bunch of ideas that promote Linux. I somehow can not picture everyday people like my 75 year old father-in-law ever getting used to it. We need ideas to make PCs more friendly not more obscure. 17 Comments » IdeaStorm submitted by regarciac May 14 I think first of all, the ideas included in this portal should be private, and only answered by Dell, cause you are opening the information of some very good ideas to everyone in the web. I think it's a really good idea this page and its content, but making it public reduces its competitive advantage. 9 Comments » Dell: join in! Offer a low-cost Linux PC! It appears Dell remains afraid of Microsoft... and here is an answer we haven't heard from Dell on IdeaStorm: Submit hardware specifications to the Linux Driver Project Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Linux submitted by upstaked 10/05/07 **REVIEWED**

I have a Dell 3100cn laser printer, which was a nice purchase until I dropped Windows XP and moved to OpenSuSE on my home computer. Make available, through some means, what the IEEE 1394 chipset is on firewire-enabled laptops Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by brutalnet Feb 28 For people like me that do digital recording on laptops, the manufacturer of the chipset is very important. My interface plays nice with TI chipsets, but not with VIA chipset firewire, for example. Despite it being a "standard", sometimes it doesn't work out that way. Comment » Subsidize Microsft Office - It's expensive! Sales Strategies, Software submitted by badblood 07/22/07
Subsidize Microsoft Office. It's over priced. Actually it's outrageously priced. Who does Microsoft think it is anyway. I can't believe any private citizen actually buys it, Stop Overcharging on Notebook RAM Sales Strategies, Laptops submitted by realskript 08/28/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Dell really... REALLY need to stop overcharging... and when i say overcharing... i mean atleast double what you would pay to pick up the ram yourself. Laptops, Laptop Power submitted by badblood 05/20/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
MagSafe power connectors, by Apple, are magnetic power connectors that pull out harmlessly when the cord is tripped upon. Ubuntu on all models where it works Linux, Operating Systems, Small Business submitted by jonsmirl 08/01/07 **IN PROGRESS**
I'm still throwing away copies of Windows. Recently I have ordered some Dimension 9200s from Small Business. All of these machines are running Ubuntu today without problem. They're being used to replace some PE400SCs that are starting to die. A 2GB quad core for $649 was too good a deal to pass up. It makes a great small server. Option to Bundle a HDTV Tuner Card with Vista Premium Media Center Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Operating Systems, Sales Strategies submitted by guest_houston 02/17/07
When someone buys a system with Vista Premium, which has all the Windows Media Center software, it would be nice if one could select an optional High Definition TV tuner card to go with it. Linux submitted by ukio-22 02/24/07
With the linux systems, offer the TiVO like Myth TV as an option (and include all hardware(configured) and all video cables/audio cables so it's a turnkey solution). Ubuntu + MythTV + Dell = Winning Combo Linux, Software submitted by tekhawk 07/20/07

This is the information page for the Ubuntu version of the M1330. The M1330n. Except it's not. Dell simply reused the M1330's information page. Create a Linux-based Dell PVR with no need for monthly service fees Linux, New Product Ideas, Desktops and Laptops submitted by jeverettk Jan 31
A PVR (think Tivo) PC without monthly service fees? No price bump for the premium OS package to run it? Interface that lets you customize your own skins and functions? Free add-ons for web-based media? Match hardware options for all Linux PCs Linux submitted by mozartsopera Feb 4
Dell's offerings of Linux PCs varies too greatly from country to country. If people in the UK can get more powerful processors (N-Series Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6750 Processor (2.66GHz, 1333Mhz FSB, 4MB cache)) and multiple hard drives (640GB (2x320GB) 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive - Dual HDD Config) than so should people in the states. I can understand trial implementations to test the waters before having a larger rollout; but how difficult can it be to offer more options for processors, hard drives, etc? Have AMD CPUS As an option for the Ubuntu Line Linux submitted by timberwolf753 Feb 8 Give the people choice of CPU's to use in your Ubuntu Line. I want to buy one but I don't use Intel CPU's becasue they suck up power and that is why I use Energy Efficient AMD CPUs. So please, Let us choice if we want an AMD or Intel CPU in our computers. 2 Comments » Integrated Modem/Wireless Device Desktops, Linux submitted by wallydog Feb 8 As many people know, it is sometimes rather difficiult to find a device that will allow you to connect to the internet when using Ubuntu Linux or another flavor. While Dell has made it easy to get Ubuntu Linux pre-installed and working, they fail in the internet connectivity part. It would be incredibly easy if Dell could offer a modem/wireless device that can come integrated in the desktop, instead of having to choose A or B and see which works and which doesn't, and then they can provide an installed driver or driver download for the device chosen. 3 Comments » track my votes
