Standardize Power Cables for Laptops Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by badblood 08/27/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Nothing is more annoying than laptop power cables that are not interchangeable from one computer model to another or from one brand of computer to another. Power cables have been standardized on most electrical applicances, including desktop computers for decades. I find myself many, many times in dark or poorly lit environments having to guess the various keys - would be fantastic to have a backlit keyboard - with backlit individual keys as the best option. Make XP/Linux drivers available for all model even if only Vista is pre-installed Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Linux, Operating Systems submitted by vineets001 09/24/07 **REVIEWED**
There are good hardware models coming out. And only Vista is pre-install option. If people want to wipe off Vista and install XP or Linux, let them do that. Make a commitment to have the drivers available. I was hoping to see that all black backpack with one red logo have more color highlights and for it to be offered with the same color options as the laptop! 1 Comment » A Projector with a 2560x1600 resolution Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) submitted by trentv85050 May 2 It's the only resolution I can't find, unless I over looked it. Comment » Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by st_jyoung May 5 I'v really enjoyed the style of keyboard on a desktop computer, with the keys just right at my wrists. With a laptop computer, it is not as easy to type because of the distance from the bottom of the keys to the bottom of the computer. It is also very common for me to accidentally strike the mouse pad and move the cursor/pointer without wanting to. I suggest move the keypad closer to the end of the computer and create a popout mouse pad on the side of the computer. 2 Comments » Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops and Laptops submitted by johnh619 2 days ago
Since keyboards on computers only communicate with the pc and do not send data over long distances then they do not need to uses the parity bit. This means that the parity bit can be uses to double the number of keys on the keyboard. Of course we would not ever do this because it would make the keyboard to large and bulky and difficult to use. So what if we made the keyboard illuminated. Inside each key would be two leds; they would be two different colors and also in each key are two symbols; each sybols is matched to one of the colors of the leds. When the keyboard is set to normal then one color led would light and shine through the letter that is the same color and illuminate it; conversely when the keyboard is set to program then the other color led would light and show the symbol that is the same color as itself. Of course at the same time when the keyboard is switched from one mode to the other then the interface would switch also such that in the normal mode it would output the standard ascii set and in the programmers mode it would output programming symbols. This might allow the next programming language beyond c sharp and java to use special symbols and to avoid using the english punctuation for programming. So then the problems of literals would be gone and programming would be more understandable. Some symbols might be common like brackets and braces and would appear on both keyboard modes in the same place; also the period and comma and colon and semicolon might be common. Please offer a cheaper Blu-Ray drive option, that can compete with Sony's and Hp's and Toshiba's blu-ray drives. Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops, Linux submitted by pawprintz 02/17/07 **REVIEWED**

The sound card on the Dell E1705 (and probably most recent Inspiron laptop can support all of these features http://www.sigmatel.com/products/pcaudio/notebook/stac9200.aspx but they have all been locked out of the software driver that Dell gives us customers. Additionally their are no ASIO drivers available from Dell and I really need this for my recording projects. Having the other features like setting both my audio jacks to outputs, manually setting sample rates and latency, and virtual surround sound would be soooooo Cool! Dell Bluetooth Mouse needs improvement Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) submitted by blackkittypounce Apr 25 The Dell Bluetooth mouse (part of the Dell Bluetooth keyboard and mouse option) has very bad ergonomics and is painful to use for many customers. Just look at the customer reviews/feedback for the mouse! Many people complain that the mouse is so big that it is difficult to use. I personally have fairly good size hands and yet the mouse is still so long that my wrist hurts after a few hours of use. Please listen to your customers and fix the ergonomics on this. Comment » 4GB RAM and E8000 series processors on XPS One Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Servers and Storage, XPS products submitted by wallyhorse Apr 14
Got a look at the XPS one over the weekend, and especially now for the first time that I can remember it offering at least the E6550 processor I would be looking at. But the big drawback is you can only take it right now with 2GB of RAM. With that in mind, I would look for that machine at making the following additional options: Make Penryn processor available on Latitude D530 Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Latitude products submitted by cestuila Apr 18
Hi, INTERNAL USB port replicator connector with power Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by cav0711 Apr 25 I think there should be a universal option on dells for a usb docking station. Yes, a docking station adds cost. It would be an option, one that could be added later or while the system is being purchased. It could use a pin type connector, like most have now. Ive heard the issues, that you would have to make a new system board and that adds cost and the like, but thats not the case. They make USB port replicators, but the problem with those is they do not power the system, and its still a mess to see a wire on your desk instead of a clean dock. The way this can be done is simple. In all laptops, make a small space where a card can be placed in the computer that connects via USB, but not using the typical usb connector, make it a hardwired type connection that plugs in almost like a piece of memory or other card would. Then some of the pins could be routed to the power receptor. This way you would have a docking station, and since it is USB powered, docking stations could still be made model specific for different options, however the basics would always work, no matter the computer. This also helps eliminate frustrated customers who wish they purchased a specific model over their current one because theirs does not have a docking station. This way they feel confident that they have not made an error in choosing the model, or even the brand. Also it helps reduce costs on the models that have docking stations because people may opt out of that option knowing they can upgrade later, which makes for a more attractive offer to customers who need business class machines at a lesser price. 2 Comments » XPS Gaming Mouse Pad - High quality gaming mouse pad for XPS computers. Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), XPS products submitted by stormrider451 Apr 17
I think it would be nice if DELL designed (DELL branded) a high quality "gaming" mouse pad that came standard on all XPS GAMING Desktops and the "obvious" XPS GAMING laptops such as the M1730. I think it would be a nice addition to any XPS gaming computer to have a nice looking, high quality gaming mouse pad to go along with the computer you just bought. Im sure this wouldnt be too expensive to design, make sure its useful for gaming, slick fast moving surface, with good size. Include Matte Sunfilter for Glossy-Screen Laptops Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops and Laptops submitted by tigerforce Apr 17 Many people (including me) love Dell's high resolution, high contrast glossy laptop displays. However they can become annoyingly unusable under harsh sun or florescent lighting. It would be nice if Dell included an optional filter that could be attached to the screen to block glare. I think more people would get the High-Def screens if Dell did this. (I'm thinking of something similar to this http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/ComputerFilter/Home/ only with a matte anti-glare coating). 7 Comments » Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) submitted by pablohs Apr 28 Ok, I know it sounds crazy, but what about a wireless docking station? A little black box where I can connect keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer, network, etc. (several usb ports will be nice). Then I just plug my laptop to the wall (so it does not run out of battery), but I don't need to loacate it under the monitor and/or snap it to the box. Everything works wireless. An application similar to direct media will allow me to access the hard drive and aplication without having to open and or turn the laptop on. If I am going to do something quick, I amy even leave the laptop in the case and use the battery to power it. 9 Comments » Let me replace the Windows Key for a Linux key in the keyboard Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Linux submitted by silencer Feb 12
It would be nice to be able to change the windows key for a linux key when you build your machine. Every linux user would love that! :) |
