Standardize Power Cables for Laptops Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by badblood 08/27/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Nothing is more annoying than laptop power cables that are not interchangeable from one computer model to another or from one brand of computer to another. Power cables have been standardized on most electrical applicances, including desktop computers for decades. Laptops, Laptop Power submitted by badblood 05/20/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
MagSafe power connectors, by Apple, are magnetic power connectors that pull out harmlessly when the cord is tripped upon. Stop Overcharging on Notebook RAM Sales Strategies, Laptops submitted by realskript 08/28/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Dell really... REALLY need to stop overcharging... and when i say overcharing... i mean atleast double what you would pay to pick up the ram yourself. Option of Matte or Glossy (TrueLife) on all Inspiron and XPS notebooks Monitors and Displays, Laptops submitted by crysalidzzz 07/02/07
The new XPS M1330 does not have a matte option. Also, the new Inspirons only offer matte screens on lowend models. Add higher screen resolution to all home & home office laptops Inspiron products, XPS products, Laptops submitted by ccpljat Apr 25 I have been using a used [another brand's] business laptop that has a high screen resolution. The cheaper Inspiron laptops can only go up to 1280x800. I cannot be productive on a screen that small any more. At least bump it up to 1440x900 or equivalent. I have basically been forced to shop in the Small Business section to find an affordable computer with a higher screen resolution. Dell Can Australia have a Ubuntu OS Laptop Power Button On Outside Casing Laptops submitted by bosweto 2 days ago
An external power-on button would be very handy for those of us (and I know there are many) who have their laptop attached to an external monitor for most of the time. Having to open it every time you need to boot up is quite annoying, especially if you keep the laptop on a storage shelf. I understand that a lock button of some sort may need to be implemented along with this, as when transporting the laptop the power button may accidently be pressed and powered on. Monitors and Displays, Laptops submitted by pablohs May 7 There should be an option to purchase any laptop with a touch screen. 5 Comments » Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by rjrich 04/19/07 Please put backlit LED panels into laptops/notebooks. 1 Comment » Touchpads should be in the middle, not on the left side! Laptops submitted by winoffice May 8 I've noticed that on many Dell laptops, the touchpad is on the left hand side, meaning that the left hand gets LESS palm rest than the right hand. Shouldn't they have an EQUAL amount of palm rest? I think therefore that they should be in the middle (horizontally). 9 Comments » LED Screens for All Precision Laptops; Power Options for Precision Laptops Monitors and Displays, Laptops submitted by rjasso Apr 27 For the market (engineers, architects, etc.) that is being catered to by the Precision laptops, these laptops should have LED screens that offer better and richer colors and are less power-hungry. Further, the M6300 should have a media bay battery option as do its smaller siblings, the M2300 and M4300. 2 Comments » Make both cords detachable on A/C Power Adapters Laptops submitted by goldschool May 8 Dell just had to send me a new A/C power adapter because a short developed in the cord that attaches to the computer (at Dell's cost under my warranty). The cord that plugs into the electrical socket is already detachable, but the cord from the adapter to the computer is not. Had the latter been detachable, Dell could have saved itself money by replacing just the cord and not the whole adapter. The main part of my old adapter is perfectly good but now must be trashed because of the short in the cord (which developed in or right behind the plug which might make it hard or impossible to repair). Here's a way for Dell to save money on warranty replacements and keep perfectly good power adapter units out of the land fills. 1 Comment » 8GB of RAM capacity on M1730. C'mon Dell, you already offer it in Precision M6300 XPS products, Laptops submitted by kanoneno Yesterday
Please make posible upgrading to 8GB of RAM on the M1730, and also offer 64 bit Vista so we can really take advantage of the memory. I mean, 4 GB is kind of new, but 64 bit applications are starting to emerge and soon 4 GB wont be enough, Vista uses 1 GB or something like that so you are only left with 3GB, thats pretty much the same you can use in Windows XP. If you can already make 8GB laptops (precision M6300) then upgrade the M1730 so that we can really start taking advantage of 64 bit apps. It's great that Dell offers HDMI and DVI-D outputs on their XPS laptops, but is it possible to add HDMI and DVI inputs as well? Lower Prices of Batteries, especially Replacements Laptops, Laptop Power submitted by gear Apr 18
I realize there is a temporary battery shortage that is driving up prices and also the high cost associated with getting bad batteries that have to be recalled. Do not stop the XPS Laptops systems ! XPS products, Laptops submitted by henki 10:36am
I just read it on a french website. According to the Wall Street journal, Dell is willing to stop their XPS products (nowhere is it mentioned if it's only desktops or both tho) by replacing them with Alienware products. Hardware numberpad on all 17 inch laptops Laptops submitted by phil.christs 3 days ago On 17 inch laptops there is plenty of space for a full size keyboard with a hardware numberpad to the right of it. All 17 inch laptops should have them. This is one way in which Dell's workstations could be better than the Macbook Pro. 4 Comments » Tell us what WiFi chipset a laptop has. Tell us the WiFi chipset used in a laptop before we buy it so we know if the WiFi chipset supports a feature we want, or if it supports Linux or another operating system that we intend to use. The WiFi chipset being like "Intel ipw2200" or "Broadcom BCM4306", or "Ralink rt2500". Laptops submitted by mauribe May 7
