Demote Ideas (Vote Negative)

I've seen some some pretty bad ideas here. It'd be nice to be able to vote against some of them.

Numeric Keypad on Notebooks

Since notebooks are larger and have plenty of unused space below the keyboard and to the right of the touchpad, can we make a few models with a numeric keypad?

There are probably a HUGE number of engineers, accountants, analysts that would be FAR better served by this addition. The top row of number is nowhere near as efficient as a numeric keypad.

As soon as this feature becomes available, send me an email and I will buy my next Dell notebook.

Thanks.

15" XPS Laptop

I think there should be a 15" XPS laptop. There are plenty of companies that have a 15" "gaming laptop". I think there should be a Dell XPS with a rotating camera, 1GB RAM, Blu-Ray player, and 80GB hard drive standard.

Check out our latest Idea in Action

Super Sleek Ultra Sexy Dell Laptop

Having done tech support professionally over the past 7 years, I've gathered people's opinions of various computer brands.

I think the general opinion of Dell is that their laptops are boxy and unattractive. A lot of people are not interested in purchasing a Dell because they don't like the aesthetics and believe that the build quality is poor due to the outer appearance. I also think a lot of people don't care for the "dude" image.

Being a power user myself, I appreciate owning Dell laptops. My current Inspiron may not be as sleek as my MacBook, but I go for functionality over form. I like that my Dell laptops have been easy to upgrade, usually have the latest cutting-edge technology available, provide options for user input (dual pointing devices), come with a full install of Windows so I can wipe out all the junk that comes preloaded and have different screen options (resolution and glossy or matte) among other reasons.

I think Dell should focus on designing an ultra thin laptop with smooth lines. This would give users who value aesthetic appeal a very good reason to purchase a Dell laptop.

Design & Form Factor

This forum is a great idea to get Dell back to #1.

What I like to see is new and innovative styling across the board on notebooks and desktops. Dell's product line looks 5yrs old and needs a total refresh.

As you can see Apple Inc. is winning conumers hearts because Apple owners are actually proud of displaying them in the living rooms instead of hiding them. Get rid of that XPS desktop design that thing is so ugly.. and come up with something consumers would be proud of displying in their media rooms.

Also I would like to see Dell create a sleak new design for a media center box so we can utilize vista home for the entertainment room and display it next to my audio and video units.

Thanks for listening Mr. Dell.

Hope_l talks about how passionate we are about design in this thread.
More RAM!

Do away with 512MB of memory as a base option to buy consumer desktops and notebooks. With Vista running best on 1GB at a minimum, don't make customers have a basic experience with the new OS because Dell wants to be able to advertise at a lower price point. The success of Vista -- and subsequently for Dell -- will be largely in word of mouth. Take a long-term view and build the momentum one great customer experience at a time right now!

No Extra Software Option

Would love the ability to have a clean Vista install. No AOL software, no earthlink software, no google software - just a clean, original OS.

Check out jeremy_f's update on our current software options.
